"MINTfit" online tests for mathematics and physics
The "MINTfit" online tests offered by Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences are free and helpful applications for prospective students to assess their level of knowledge in school mathematics and physics. Participants receive their evaluation online after completing the tests. Based on this, learning recommendations are generated, whereby focused relevant topics can be repeated and refreshed.
Background
In many degree programmes, especially technical ones, a certain amount of prior knowledge in natural science subjects such as mathematics and physics is assumed and can make it much easier to start studying.
Goal
The aim of the measure is to support prospective students at the transition from school to university and to prepare them for technical degree programmes or the minor subject of mathematics. In the long term, the aim is to reduce drop-out rates.
Description of the type of measure
The web-based "MINTfit" tests are aimed at prospective students of technical and mathematical courses of study. It is particularly helpful for first-year students whose school-leaving certificate dates back some time or who obtained their higher education entrance qualification via the second educational pathway to determine their level of knowledge. However, participation in the online tests is possible for interested persons from any educational background and can therefore be useful not only for study subject orientation but also for pupils in preparation for the (subject-specific) Abitur.
"MINTfit" Hamburg is an association of several Hamburg colleges and universities as well as the Hamburg Ministry of Science, Research, Equality and Districts and one of the most widespread non-commercial providers of tests and online courses for assessing knowledge. The programme is offered nationwide at several institutions, including the Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences.
In addition to the "MINTfit" online tests, which are also offered by MINTfit Hamburg for the subjects chemistry and computer science, it is also possible to participate in online bridge courses for MINT subjects via the Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences, in which first-year students can work on their knowledge gaps.
Implementation
The programme is financed by MINTfit Hamburg and the Ministry of Science, Research, Equality and Districts.
The test offer has been implemented on the website of the Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences so that interested people can take part in the tests via it.
