Dual education systems are in fact complex systems where heterogeneous actors have to interact and coordinate together in order to guarantee the best learning experience possible.The DuALPlus project represented a good occasion to study the key factors for bringing innovation and quality in dual education.This handbook is the result of this study, which outlines the key results of the research, evaluation as well as activities and best practice examples from the project.

Die DuALPlus-Partner haben ein innovatives Trainingskonzept für betriebliche Ausbildner*innen in Englisch, Deutsch, Französisch, Slowenisch und Italienisch entwickelt, das den Ausbildner*innen das nötige Wissen, Fähigkeiten und Kompetenzen vermitteln soll, um Auszubildende mit sehr unterschiedlichen Hintergründen für eine Ausbildung zu gewinnen, sie während der Ausbildung erfolgreich zu motivieren sowie erfolgreich bis zum Abschluss zu begleiten.
HWK / Bavaria (D): PARTIAL CRAFTS QUALIFICATION IN THE CONSTRUCTION SECTOR WITH EXTERNAL EXAMINATION
The intention behind this innovative dual education programme was to make dual education accessible not just for secondary school leavers, but also for adults and so far socially deprived individuals such as refugees, school drop-outs, etc.

Lvh hat das Konzept "Zukunftsfit" zu den DuALPlus-Projektthemen entwickelt, einen Workshop zusammen mit Ausbilder*innen und Auszubildenden. Im Mittelpunkt stehen das gegenseitige Kennenlernen und die Klärung offener Organisationsfragen.
NDU / Lower Austria (AT): FACHARBEITER*INNENAUSBILDUNG FÜR STUDIERENDE
Der in Zusammenarbeit mit Kooperationspartner*innen entwickelte Kurs "Facharbeiter*innenausbildung für Studierende" ist als konsekutives Modell konzipiert, das es den Studierenden ermöglicht, eine Facharbeiter*innenausbildung abzuschließen, Dies ist im Rahmen des bisherigen Metallkurses des Bachelorstudiengangs "Design, Handwerk & materielle Kultur" an der New Design University (NDU) in St. Pölten nicht möglich.
NDU / Lower Austria (AT): SKILLED-TRAINING FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
The course "Skilled training for university students", developed in collaboration with cooperation partners, is designed as a consecutive model to enable students to complete a skilled worker qualification, which is not possible within the framework of the previous metal course of the Bachelor programme “Manual & Material Culture” at the New Design University (NDU) in St. Pölten.
PAT / Trento (IT): ATELIER DELL’APPRENDIMENTO - LABORATORIO DI DESIGN THINKING DI PRATICHE E PROCESSI DI APPRENDIMENTO NELLA FORMAZIONE DUALE
Il programma, denominato "Atelier dell'apprendimento", vede la partecipazione principale di rappresentanti delle piccole e medie imprese (PMI), istituzioni scolastiche/formative e di un facilitatore esperto che guida un gruppo eterogeneo di attori a individuare temi e sfide utili al loro sviluppo professionale, descrivere e condividere le proprie strategie e competenze e, infine, integrare tali strategie per definire una lista di buone pratiche da adottare.
PAT / Trento (IT): LEARNING ATELIER: DESIGN THINKING WORKSHOPS OF LEARNING PRACTICES AND PROCESSES IN DUAL TRAINING
The programme sees the participation of representatives of SMEs as well as educational institutions and an expert facilitator that guides a heterogeneous group of actors to identify issues/challenges useful for their professional development, to describe and share their strategies and competences and finally integrate those strategies in order to produce a list of best practices to be suggested in the future.
Permeability Study
This report provides a comparative study on the horizontal and vertical aspects regarding the permeability of the dual education system in the Alpine Space (Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France and Slovenia). It sheds light onto the current situation of permeability within the educational systems in the Alpine Space.
Promoting excellence in dual education - Excerpts from the DuALPlus final conference
The project results were presented under the title “Promoting Excellence in Dual Education” at the final conference that was held in Munich and online, on 22 July 2021. The event brought together researchers, recognised experts for dual education from around the EU interested in exploring and discussing the outcomes of the project and DuALPlus project members. The conference also featured a poster exhibition and a panel discussion on the permeability of our education system in the Alpine Space.
Regio-V / Vorarlberg (AT): LEARNING FOR LIFE. HOLISTIC TRAINING CONCEPT FOR APPRENTICES
Under the Motto "Learning for Life" in the Montafon a holistic and innovative training concept for apprentices has been developed and tested. It strengthens the expertise, social and self-competences of young people as an addition to the usual training in the company and vocational school.

Unter dem Motto "Lernen für das Leben" im Montafon wurde ein ganzheitliches und innovatives Ausbildungskonzept für Lehrlinge entwickelt und erprobt. ES stärkt die Fähigkeiten, Sozial- und Selbstkompetenzen junger Menschen als Ergänzung zur gewohnten Ausbildung im Betrieb und in der Berufsschule.

Screening and Evaluation of Dual Training Programmes: Best Practices
Under the guidance of the work package leader NDU, the project partners researched for initiatives and best practices for dual training programmes in their countries which are summarised in this report. They also adopted a joint methodology to evaluate their own training programmes. The evaluation took place in connection with the data collection for the SME needs assessment report which therefore also presents issues relating to the evaluation. There will be a deeper evaluation of dual training formats in the form of a focus group discussion with members of the Communities of Practice. The results of the evaluations as well as of the SME needs assessment analysis will be the basis for the revision of existing, respectively the development of new dual training formats.
Screening und Evaluierung dualer Ausbildungsprogramme: Best Practices aus deutschsprachigen Regionen
Unter Anleitung der NDU recherchierten die Projektpartner*innen nach Initiativen und bewährten Verfahren für duale Ausbildungsprogramme in ihren Ländern, die in einem Bericht zusammengefasst wurden. Sie haben auch eine gemeinsame Methodik zur Bewertung ihrer eigenen Ausbildungsprogramme angenommen. Die Evaluation erfolgte im Zusammenhang mit der Datenerhebung für die KMU-Bedarfsanalyse, die daher auch Fragen im Zusammenhang mit der Bewertung aufwirft. Eine vertiefte Evaluation der dualen Ausbildungsformate erfolgt in Form einer Fokusgruppendiskussion mit Mitgliedern der Communities of Practice. Die Ergebnisse der Evaluierungen sowie der KMU-Bedarfsanalyse bilden die Grundlage für die Überarbeitung bestehender bzw. die Entwicklung neuer dualer Ausbildungsformate.
Dieser Bericht umfasst die Übersetzung der Rechercheergebnisse aus den deutschsprachigen Projektregionen.

Partnerji DuALPlus so razvili inovativen koncept usposabljanja za mentorje v podjetju v angleškem, nemškem, francoskem, slovenskem in italijanskem jeziku, katerega namen je učiteljem zagotoviti potrebno znanje, spretnosti in kompetence za privabljanje pripravnikov z zelo različnimi izkušnjami v vajeništvo, jih uspešno motivirati med usposabljanjem in jih uspešno spremljati do njegovega končnega cilja.
